NGFS Scenarios Phase V – Launch Event – Friday 8 November 2024

The NGFS published the fifth vintage of its long-term climate macro-financial scenarios for forward-looking climate risks assessments on 5 November. The NGFS scenarios explore the transition and physical impacts of climate change, over a long time horizon and under varying assumptions.

On 8 November, the NGFS presented the fifth vintage of its long-term climate macro-financial scenarios for forward-looking climate risks assessments in a public launch event. The NGFS scenarios explore the transition and physical impacts of climate change, over a long time horizon and under varying assumptions.

Within the fifth vintage, the scenarios have been updated to account for the latest economic and population developments, as well as most recent country-level climate commitments up until March 2024. Another main development of this fifth phase is an updated assessment of economic losses stemming from climate change. It now incorporates a new damage function, resulting in more severe impacts.

Discover more about the updated scenarios in this launch event presented by Livio Stracca (Chair of the NGFS workstream on Scenario Design and Analysis), along with the modelers of our partner academic consortium.

You can find the recorded session on YouTube (see above) and you can download the presented slides below.
