Launch of the Technical document on nature-related scenarios – 13 December 2023 at 1:30pm

The NGFS is organising a launch event for the publication of its technical document on nature-related scenarios as part of the GFRA conference.

The Green Finance Research Advances (GFRA) is an international research conference for academics and professionals, co-organized by Banque de France and the Institut Louis Bachelier, with the participation of the Institut de la Finance Durable and the Institute for Climate Economics-I4CE. The objective of this conference is to bring together academics, finance practitioners and regulators, to discuss together research issues related to the integration of climate-related, nature-related and transition-related risks into macro-economic modelling/forecasting and into the risk assessment of the financial sector. For more information on the GFRA, you can refer to the link here.

The NGFS technical document on nature-related scenarios aims at providing central banks and supervisors with Recommendations toward the development of scenarios for assessing nature-related economic and financial risks. Drawing on the contributions of commissioned academics and experts, the document envisions consistent narratives through which different nature-related hazards be identified; explores methods and tools through which the impacts of these hazards and the ability to mitigate them can be assessed; and provides a list of options for central banks and supervisors to move forward with the development of nature-related scenarios, both in the short term and in the longer term.

Further to the launch, the GFRA conference will dedicate the afternoon of the 13th of December to discuss nature-related issues and present some of the latest research on the topic. In conjunction with the presentation of the NGFS publication, and there will also be a panel discussion on nature scenarios. Please refer to the detailed agenda here.
