Governance
This section provides general information on the NGFS governance and its working structures.
The organisational structure of the NGFS relies on the NGFS Plenary, the NGFS Steering Committee, the working groups, the Chair and Vice-Chair and the Secretariat.
The NGFS organisational structure is as follows :
The NGFS Plenary is composed of representatives of all NGFS Members and Observers. It appoints the NGFS Chair and Vice-Chair, approves the work programme of the NGFS and the admission of new NGFS Members and Observers and decides on any matter pertaining to the functioning of the NGFS. Decisions by the NGFS Plenary are taken by a majority of two-thirds of NGFS Members.
The NGFS Steering Committee is the executive body of the NGFS. It is, inter alia, in charge of preparing the NGFS strategy for the Plenary, steering operational work of the NGFS, approving the deliverables of the NGFS by consensus or the establishment of new working groups.
The Chair is responsible for steering and organising the work of the NGFS. The NGFS is currently chaired by Olaf Sleijpen, Governor of The Nederlandsche Bank.
The Secretariat, headed by Mr Yann Marin, is hosted by the Banque de France.
The Secretariat provides day-to-day operational and technical support to the NGFS Plenary, the Steering Committee, the working groups and Chair and vice-Chair.
In order to achieve its work program, the Network has structured its work into seven dedicated workstreams and taskforces and three expert networks (see What we do).
